Bedruthan Steps
V1
Fare thee well my green eyed girl
I left thee at the shore
And there I did kiss softly her brow
And from her sweet beast I tore
The purest gift and lullaby I ever recalled to hear
She offered me no battle I brought no harm
And there she stood passive as I drew near
My voice soft inside her ear
(And I said)
Ch
Leave, leave sweet Maiden leave
Leave, return no more
V2
And so she turned and walked away
Swallowed by raging sea
I couldn't move to save her mute I couldn't speak
Yet sorrow in my stillness plied my need
Her long brown hair lapped at her waist
Golden skin she soon would disappear
Tears of molten anguish burned against my face
Devastation brought me to my knees
(And I said)
Ch
Leave, leave sweet Maiden leave
Leave, return no more
Mid 8
Howling as the wind blows
Crumpled ill at ease
With the Maiden dead and gone
With the Maiden dead and gone
With the Maiden dead and gone
I'd soon find Peace
Ch
Leave…..
