This Bloody War
Feet by the fire blazing dancing pipe in his hand roast digesting
Mozart reborn fondles his ears disturbed by a noise gets up from his
Slowly he moves pulls back the curtain then turns away slowly slippers dragging
Sunggles back down in his favourite chair pulls on his pipe smokes lost in the air
He never noticed the world outside his window
The showering bullets bombs and cries
He was oblivious gazing down onto the streets
As a child was blown right off it’s feet
And another one caught in a crossfire
And Mummy and Daddy never came home
Been living in this cellar eight months or more
And the rain keeps pouring on this bloody war
What this place needs is a good clear out
Ethnic cleansing my Dear she shouts
Hand full of face cream rubbing it in
I need a new fur oh I know it’s a sin
Look don’t worry darling I’ll do what I can
I’m flying to France for a word with that man
And maybe a case of his finest red wine
What do you think? Mm sounds just fine
He never noticed when the lights go out the people run
Still above across the rains still strong
You see it’s harder to aim and hit when the sun goes down
But the pain still hurts as they leave this town
All that they know all they possess
Flee for their lives leave this mess
Why can’t we stay here there is no more
They’ve taken it from us with their bloody war
With their futile war
And I cry in my sleep and I cry in my wake
But he wouldn’t care to notice
No…..
Futile fighting selfish wanting
Wasted lives a once beautiful land
Fucked up reasons worthless meanings
What kind of human denies a child’s hand
